River Simone, LPCC
MA Contemplative Psychotherapy
I work with both individuals and relationships in Boulder, Colorado. I’m a former high school teacher and have a particular fondness for working with young adults and all courageous souls who are seeking to find their, as Mary Oliver phrases, "place in the family of things."
My style is experiential and relational. I show up as I am, and I welcome all of you, exactly as you are, including and especially the parts of you that don’t often feel super welcome. Together, we undertake a journey of discovery and homecoming.
My approach draws on the somatic parts-work of Janina Fisher, the maitri (unconditional friendliness) teachings of Buddhism, the soul-work of Bill Plotkin and Clarrisa Pinkola-Estes, the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy, Rapid Resolution Therapy, and the relational trauma-healing model of Diana Fosha (AEDP). I recognize sociocultural and ecological contexts as critical pieces of personal healing and transformation and bring a systemic-liberation lens to therapeutic work.
My intention for our time together is that, from the beginning, you experience increasing freedom: the freedom of knowing that every part of you is completely ok, of connecting authentically and deeply in your relationships, and of being able to offer your particular and much-needed medicine to our world.
